Jackie says that one of the best things about being famous is that it brings people together....fans from all over the world get to know each other and become friends. It really does happen all the time. Sometimes it happens in the most unlikely of places....like a laundromat. Here's a letter from the Kids Corner Cartoonist about a meeting with a very special little girl. Greetings Kath ~ I've got to tell you about something that happened to me today :) I went to the laundromat (like I do every Moday) and there was a little girl there running amok. All over the place, climbing the walls. Her Mom ignored her and let her play. After I loaded the washers I sat down at a table to do some Jackie drawings and plugged into my Discman (with Jackie Music) and started to work. After a few minutes the little girl cautiously approached me and asked me what I was doing. When I told her I was drawing Jackie Chan she lost all caution and started talking non-stop about how much she loved Jackie and watched his cartoon every day after school and blah blah blah... Then she asked if she could draw Jackie too, so I gave her some paper and colored pencils and we went to town. I kick myself for not having copies of my coloring pages with me... next time I'll keep some in my backpack for just such an event. She also listened to the Jackie CDs with me as we worked. All I had for her to color was the print-out of Jackie and the pig that I used to draw the picture, so she colored that in and then she drew a picture of her and Jackie. I told her that I'd send them to the Kids Corner website, but she also wanted me to send them to Jackie himself. I helped her write a letter which I'll enclose with the pics and mail them to him this afternoon. Her name is Janelle and she's five years old, if you'd add them to the gallery she'd be tickled. I gave her Mom the Kid's Corner website. I also told her about the tile project and gave her the address for that. I also drew Janelle a tiger, an elephant, and a snake for her to color while we waited for the laundry. It was a fun time ;) Holly "Jabba" Hecht January 2004 Please visit Holly's Studio, the Coloring Pages, and Jackie's Coloring Book! |
